RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE REPORTER

If that's why we report, what does a reporter actually do? What's the job?

There are a lot of responsibilities for reporters.

Firstly, you have to consider yourself to be an investigator. That means we need to set our objectives, plan and collect information to answer the questions that the report needs to answer.

We also need to be analysts, able to analyse and understand and turn the data that we find into information. Data is just numbers. Information has meaning.

And we have to be communicators too. We have to be able to describe what we've learned, explain what is happening and draw conclusions for our readers in order to make concrete, specific recommendations on how to respond to what was learned so that decision makers can take appropriate action to keep those projects on track.
